EPISODE 3

A DAY OUT

It was a lovely day. The sun shone and the breeze was light and warm. “Let’s go out today” said Jamie. “Oh yes” said Lillie. “Would you like to come with us Raz?” said Jamie, “there are some lovely raspberries at Bartle Hall gardens and we could play on the swings and explore the lovely park there.” “That sounds exciting” said Raz. They told their mother where they were going and that they would be back for lunch and off they went. It wasn’t very far and they soon arrived at Bartle Hall and went to play on the swings and things. Raz went to find the raspberries and he soon found them and had a great feast. The children were having such fun when Raz came back but there were so many people that Raz starting to get nervous, so they set off to explore the gardens and the big park. They saw the lovely pond with golden fishes swimming lazily in the bright sun. It made the fish look like pieces of gold flashing in the strong light. Lillie saw the maze and thought it would be fun to try it and see how quickly they could solve it today. So Jamie and Lillie went into the maze and it didn’t take them long to find the centre and then the exit but as they came of the maze it all looked so different. In fact they had found the exit on the other side. Jamie said “I am sure that it is this way.” And they set off but the trees and the bushes just got thicker and very soon they realised that they were well and truly lost. Mother had made lunch some time ago as it was now late afternoon and Jamie and Lillie were never late. Mother was getting very worried and decided to call Bartle Hall to see if they had left and were on their way home. The garden keeper at Bartle Hall knew Jamie and Lillie and he had seen them playing in the play area and then going into the maze.

Jamie and Lillie had visited before and the garden keeper was sure that they knew their wayout. “Can you have a look for them please,” said mother “they are very late and I am so worried.” “Of course I will,” said the gardener “and I will get the staff to help me.” As soon as the gardener had gathered all the staff and explained what had happened, they all set off to search the maze. They all went to cover all the exits and then headed into the centre of the maze. They all met up in the maze centre but no one had seen the children anywhere. “Search the grounds.” said the gardener and off they went. They looked and looked but no one could find the children anywhere. The gardener was now worried and he decided to go to the top of the Hall building and look from there.
